About the Role

The Society for Veterinary Medical Ethics (SVME) seeks a Treasurer to serve as an officer on its Board of Directors and support the organization’s financial stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing financial records, income, expenses, and timely payments.
• Preparing financial reports for the board and assisting with the annual budget.
• Coordinating required financial filings with appropriate professionals.
• Participating in board meetings, financial planning, and organizational decisions.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable with basic financial management, and committed to SVME’s mission of advancing veterinary ethics. Nonprofit finance or bookkeeping experience is welcome.

The Society for Veterinary Medical Ethics (svme.org) is a nonprofit veterinary association dedicated to to increase the understanding of the philosophical, social, moral and ethical values encountered by the veterinary profession. We provide courses, forums, and a member network to support and guide animal health care professionals through contemporary ethical challenges encountered through work with non-human animals.
