About the Role

The Animal Law, Ethics and Science Foundation is distinguished by its rigorous scientific and legal approach, which guides its actions and recommendations. As such, the position of Scientific Director is central; it guarantees the quality of the Foundation’s output by drawing on the most current scientific knowledge and research.

The Foundation’s means of action include, among others:

• The organization of and participation in colloquia and conferences
• The publication of books, reports, a specialized journal, and online articles
• Support for higher education
• The awarding of prizes in the fields of science and law
• Collaboration with public authorities, representatives of professionals involved with animals, and the academic world
• Raising awareness among elected officials and the general public

Main missions

The person in charge of the scientific direction of LFDA will have to:

• Lead the Foundation’s scientific committee
• Identify experts who can be consulted on specific topics, such as insects and fish, in order to strengthen internal skills
• Oversee the Foundation’s publications, including the journal and social networks, to ensure the scientific quality of LFDA writings
• Participate in LFDA’s work and guidance in advocacy and communication to ensure that the positions defended are based on evidence
• Represent LFDA to experts, agencies, and committees, noting that depending on the purpose, this representation may be ensured by the Public Affairs Manager
• Promote relationships with ethological research communities in France and Europe, and establish bridges with academic circles
• Oversee the LFDA Alfred Kastler Biology Prize
• Write articles for the LFDA journal or other publications
• Represent the Foundation during interventions in schools and higher education

Prerequisite

Doctorate in life or environmental sciences, such as ethology, biology, ecology, or animal welfare.

Terms

• Permanent, full-time contract
• Salary based on profile and experience
• Position available from September 2026
• Based in Paris (5th arrondissement) at the Foundation’s headquarters
