About the Role
The Scientific Advisory Committee at Voices for Animal Welfare (VfAW) guides our work with evidence-based, ethical, and context-sensitive science. Members contribute expertise in veterinary medicine, wildlife health, conservation, and One Health to strengthen our impact in Africa and Europe.
Requirements
- Review and advise on VfAW’s research projects and veterinary protocols.
- Ensure scientific approaches are ethical, rigorous, and adapted to local contexts.
- Identify emerging risks and trends in animal health, wildlife medicine, and One Health.
- Strengthen connections with universities, research institutions, and scientific networks by:
- Facilitating introductions to colleagues and labs.
- Recommending academic or research partners.
- Sharing opportunities such as conferences or collaborative projects.
- Promoting internships, mentorships, or exchanges.
- Support scientific exchange across regions by:
- Sharing research findings, case studies, and field data.
- Advising on joint research or cross-regional studies.
- Promoting webinars, guest lectures, and mentorship opportunities.
- Share relevant research and findings with VfAW’s communications team for outreach.
- Join occasional online meetings (a few per year) and provide feedback on specific initiatives.
This is a voluntary, honorary position. Contributions are flexible and based on expertise, with the aim of building bridges between African and European scientific communities.
