  • Design activities aligned with campaign goals (e.g. outreach, demonstrations, evidence collection)
  • Build and sustain an engaged volunteer community
  • Manage volunteer communication (calls, updates, coordination)
  • Match volunteers to roles and ensure follow-through
  • Onboard new volunteers in collaboration with Grassroots Organiser
  • Document activities (photos, videos, reports)
  • Maintain systems to track actions, timelines, and outcomes
  • Provide clear, outcome-focused reporting

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in volunteer management, community organising, or event coordination
  • Connections within animal welfare, activism, or social impact communities in India
  • Strong judgment in identifying reliable contributors
  • Ability to break down goals into actionable, trackable tasks
  • High accountability and proactive follow-up
  • Strong coordination skills across locations and timelines
  • Volunteer-centric mindset focused on engagement and retention

Preferred:

  • Photography or video skills
  • Experience managing online communities or groups

Success Metrics

  • Month 1: Execute initial actions, map volunteer base, identify reliable contributors
  • Month 2: Ensure consistent execution and documentation, improve volunteer participation
  • Month 3: Fully own operations, deploy volunteers effectively, and build a stable, engaged community

About the Organisation

The Bharat Initiative for Accountability (BIA) holds companies accountable for how animals are treated in their supply chains. Our current focus is ending the use of battery cages by pushing companies to commit to and follow through on cage-free sourcing. We do this through research, corporate engagement, and campaigns that create real pressure for change.
