About the Role
Reports to: Director of People & Operations
Target start: February/March 2027
Purpose: Build AAA’s presence on the ground: the locally led communities, partnerships and relationships that feed our talent funnel and support our programmes.
Responsibilities
- Help identify and recruit local leaders to establish and run Effective Animal Advocacy (EAA) groups in priority countries.
- Work with group leads on local outreach, community building and adapting our messaging to local contexts.
- Build and maintain partnerships with universities, professional associations, existing organisations and other recruitment channels.
- Coordinate on-the-ground support for our in-depth programmes, including local research and logistics, working with group leads.
- Support due diligence and local intelligence gathering through Effective Animal Advocacy (EAA) group leads, including farm visits and stakeholder interviews where relevant.
- Work with the Communications Manager on outreach in priority countries.
Essential
- Experience building communities, networks or partnerships, ideally in more than one country.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Based in Africa, with strong understanding of at least one of our priority regions (esp. Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Northern Africa, South Africa).
- Interest in effective animal advocacy.
- Ability to travel for several weeks per year.
Desirable
- Existing networks in animal advocacy, effective altruism, or adjacent fields in Africa.
- Experience supporting or running volunteer-led or locally led groups.
- Arabic (strong plus, particularly for North African group building), French, or another regionally relevant language.
- Comfort with data tools and AI-supported workflows.
