About the Role
The Animal Welfare Alliance is looking for an advisor/senior advisor for fish welfare and business. This position is for you who want to influence business and build collaboration with the fish farming industry that leads to concrete welfare measures.

As an advisor/senior advisor with us, you work with good support in a committed, interdisciplinary team of biologists, veterinarians, and other professionals.
About the Role
You will become part of the social and policy department and will contribute to creating concrete improvements for farmed fish in Norwegian aquaculture through collaboration, dialogue, and strategic advocacy.
The position is a temporary project position until 2029, with the possibility of permanent employment after the project period.
An important part of the job will be to identify businesses we can collaborate with, establish contact, and follow up on dialogue and projects. You will work closely with our fish welfare professionals, who provide the professional basis for the work.
Among other things, you will work on:
- Identify, build, and follow up professional relationships with relevant businesses and other players in the aquaculture industry.
- Identify opportunities for specific collaborations and projects that can improve fish welfare.
- Plan and conduct meetings, presentations, and other activities aimed at the business community.
- Follow up on collaboration and help ensure that good intentions are translated into concrete measures.
- Collaborate closely with the Animal Welfare Alliance’s professionals on professional content and priorities.
- Participate in developing strategy and direction for the Animal Welfare Alliance’s work.
- Senior Advisor: Lead and develop projects that influence the Norwegian aquaculture industry in a more animal-friendly direction.
About You

You enjoy a workday that may involve some travel.
Your Qualifications
- You have relevant higher education with good insight into Norwegian salmon farming, for example fish health biologist, economist, veterinarian, lawyer, engineer, or other higher education related to aquaculture.
- You have experience from the aquaculture industry, for example from fish health services, fish farming, the supply industry, or public aquaculture management.
- You are a good communicator and are comfortable representing the Animal Welfare Alliance externally, both in meetings, lectures, and other contexts.
- You have good oral and written communication skills in Norwegian and English.
- For senior advisors, we expect relevant experience with independent consulting, project management, and/or strategic work.
It is an advantage, but not a requirement, that you:
- Have good knowledge of relevant management and regulations, and understanding of the political framework for Norwegian aquaculture.
- Have experience with hatchery fish, land-based farming, or closed production systems.
