She knew she wanted to help animals, she just couldn’t decide how.

Becca Rogers had been sitting with that question since 2019, when she left PETA after 1.5 years doing undercover work and stepped into a tech ed company. She still cared deeply about animals and she needed to find her way back, but the field is wide, and every time she tried to narrow it down, she stalled. Farmed animals? Animals being used for experimentation? Something in advocacy, research, policy? The search had a cost either way: every month she spent looking for the right path was a month she wasn’t making the difference for animals she wanted to make.

She decided to take AAC’s online course because she wanted a clear pathway to her goals.

The course gave her what years of searching hadn’t: a framework for thinking about where she could actually make the most difference. Farmed animal welfare came into focus. So did leadership roles, where her skills and instincts could go furthest. She’d been debating this for years, but just a few weeks of coursework settled it.

With her newfound clarity from the course, she found her way to AAC’s job board and landed a role as the Leadership Program Manager at New Roots Institute.

Two and a half years later, she’s now the Head of Pathways, leading strategy for the fellows and alumni programme and helping people translate their experience into high-impact roles in food system change. The person who used to coach others through career pivots is now doing it at a scale that actually matters to her.

The course helped me quite a lot in deciding to go into farmed animal welfare specifically. This is something I had debated for a number of years, and it had really stalled my job search. I was thankful to have a clear direction after taking the course.
