About the Role
You’ll be responsible for the relationship with the media and journalists, increasing the portfolio of contacts, as well as with other audiences, for example influencers and celebrities. You’ll also publicly represent OBA to disseminate the work of the organisation and establish collaborations with other activist organisations and stakeholders. You’ll work within the communications department and collaborate with the department's objectives.
YOUR WORK
Media Relations:
* Promote, consolidate and maintain relations with national and international media and journalists.
* Expand, manage and keep press databases up to date.
* Plan, design and execute the actions that the organization will carry out with the media, according to the objectives set by the communications department.
* Prepare and distribute press releases, invitations, statements, declarations, news and other pieces and messages.
* Make contacts, follow-ups and negotiations (for example, for exclusives)
Planning and strategy:
* Planning and execution of the annual press strategy.
* Crisis management: risk identification and crisis communication planning in the event of brand or organizational crises.
* Develop and disseminate the main ideas and key activist messages that are transmitted from the organization to the media, which may include the development of narratives and stories that will be used by other members of the organization.
Spokesperson :
* Support and train the organization's team of spokespersons. Conduct or coordinate media training on a regular basis.
* Act as a spokesperson for the organization when necessary, participating sporadically in videos for the organization's channels (social media, for example).
* Obtain interviews, reports, opinion articles, etc. from representatives of the organization.
* Publicly represent OBA to disseminate the organization's work and establish collaborations.
Analysis and reporting of results:
* Monitor national and international media outlets and their topics of interest and agendas on a daily basis to detect synergies with our work.
* Share news of interest with the team.
* Monitoring the content of conventional and non-conventional media and other organizations in the environment to detect opportunities.
* Monitoring the political agenda and issues that are relevant to the work of the organization.
* Monitor and compile the appearance of the Animal Welfare Observatory in the media, through the management of monitoring programs or platforms.
* Prepare results reports, monthly and annual metrics, and by campaign/launch.
* Improve methods for measuring the impact of work carried out by the press.
Content generation and supervision:
* Generate journalistic content and always transmit it in a simple manner and aligned with the organization's objectives.
* Develop materials for the organization's communication channels, such as the news section, newsletters, website, magazines, blogs, social networks, etc.
* Use OBA's unified and distinctive activist language, tone and arguments, in coordination with the communications department.
* Prepare speeches and letters for spokespersons, which they can use at events, reports or presentations
* Perform revision and correction tasks on your own texts and those of other people in the organization.
Public and stakeholder relations:
* Actively plan and coordinate, together with other organizations or interest groups, events, webinars, colloquia, presentations, talks or debates aimed at giving visibility to the brand and establishing the reputation of our organization.
* Foster, consolidate and maintain relationships with influencers, celebrities and other activist stakeholders who can amplify the impact and visibility of the organization.
* Develop strategies for collaborations with these types of stakeholders, individually and/or through intermediaries.
* Identify opportunities and synergies for collaboration with stakeholders in general.
* Promote and consolidate public relations with entities in the field of animal welfare, activism and effective altruism.
* Support in the development and coordination of other communications projects when necessary.
